Pearl Harbor....

Yesterday was the anniversary of the first invasion of the US. My Grandfather was there and survived.

When the smoke had settled and the bodies claimed we stood up. We as in America, we stood up as one and put a stop to the cause for this invasion. Men stood in line and joined the armed forces, some under age and lied to serve their country. Women stood up as well, taking non-traditional jobs in factories, they held the families together while their fathers, sons and brothers went overseas to fight and die. Those who did not go 'over there' did their part 'over here'. There were rations for gas and rubber and metals; factories shut down and turn on production of tanks and planes and ammo and uniforms and foodstuffs. People walked to conserve gas and saved the ham bone and had soup for a week to save on money and resources. They wore the same clothes and had them mended beyond normal life to save on materials. They suffered and gave and did so willingly. We focused our attention on the Hun and the Jap and after 4 long years we had survived and took the Evil that had brought that horror to our doorstep and wiped it off the face of the earth.

Decades later the same happened to us on September 11th, and compared to our forefathers, we came up wanting. Seven years later and we are still fighting among ourselves as the Evil laughs at us; seven years later and it is like nothing happened, men talk of hiding in Canada if a drafts occurs and people are more concerned what Paris is wearing and who Brad is sleeping with then the fact that America was attacked and we did nothing. Seven years later and more is spent on Ipods, Hummer, and Tickle Me Elmos then armor for our troops and air support and rations. Seven years later and our taxes are used for building bridges to nowhere in Alaska, supporting people who are too lazy to support themselves or helping illegal immigrants while wounded soldiers DIE right here in American hospitals due to lack of proper care!

Seven years later and I am ashamed of what we did to the country our Parents, Grandparents and Great Grandparents sacrificed for. We should all be ashamed!

God Bless the men and women who died on December 7th, 1941 and each and everyone since how gave their last full measure in service to this country who's inhabitants do not deserve.
