Rush In Rio

Got the new 3CD set and it sounds great, now I am a concert trader and already have about 5 copies of this tour, one which actually sounds better that this, Geddy is too low and of course they edit most of the crown interaction......anyway the most fantastic part about this is the crowd noise. This was recorded in Rio in front of 40,000 Rush fans, yes 40,000 fans!!!! The boys sound great and sound like they are having a good time. Can't wiat for the DVD!!!!!!

It is the end of my second day at my new station. News is news where ever you are, I should direct a segment or two tomorrow and then Technical Direct this weekend. The people are great, they joke and are very comfortable around each other, just like NBC. I think I shall like it here, now if I can only sell my house and get the wife and son out here ASAP!!!!!

I don't usually post joke links and the such but this was funny!

This is truly a heartwarming story about the bond formed between a little girl and some construction workers. This makes you want to believe in the goodness of people and that there is hope for the human race.

A young family moved into a house next door to a vacant lot. One day a construction crew turned up to start building a house on the empty lot. The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and started talking with the workers. She hung around and eventually the construction crew, all of them gems-in-the-rough, more or less adopted her as a kind of project mascot.

They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important. At the end of the first week they even presented her with a pay envelope containing a dollar. The little girl took this home to her mother who said all the appropriate words of admiration and suggested that they take the dollar pay she had received to the bank the next day to start a savings account.

When they got to the bank the teller was equally impressed with the story and asked the little girl how she had come by her very own paycheck at such a young age. The little girl proudly replied, "I worked all last week with a crew building a house."

My goodness gracious," said the teller, "and will you be working on the house again this week, too?"

The little girl replied, "I will if those useless sons-a-bitches at Home Depot ever bring us any drywall that's worth a shit."

Now the fun begins. The house is on the market AND we are packing for the move. My son is excited and so are we, to a point....We are just beat down, too much stuff to do .

My mother is coming out to help us pack which should help calm down the wife. She gave her notice on Tuesday and she feels a lot better!!! She also has a few jobs lined up out there, which is good for her and one of the reasons we are moving.

Today is the fourth day of my union retirement. The new President took over on October 1st and I feel good about it. I knew we were going to be leaving in the next 2 years and didn't want to take a position I couldn't finish . Got rid of all the paperwork yesterday and my basement is virtually empty!!! While I will miss the day to day operations of union life, I won't miss the 20 plus hours extra a week you have to work!!!!!!!!!!

Wednesday, October 01, 2003

Well it's official, I gave my 2 week notice on Monday and we are preparing to move by the end of October!!! I took a job with CBS as a Director, it is a small pay cut back to nights and weekends but it is closer to family and a better city than Rochester. The taxes are lower, the price of living is lower, gas is lower and most of all the growth rate is HIGHER!!!! There is something new everytime we visit!!! And not just, " Oh look at that new Subway" but "Wow were did this town come from?!?!?!?!"

We will be in the same city as my parents and sister (with son) and brother (when he returns from Japan) and my other brother is in Chicago (3 hours away)......

While nervous as all hell, life will be good!!!!!!
