Road shout out

greetings from upstate new york. so far the trip has been great, except for the travel day. we arrived at the airport on Wednesday at 7am for our 9am flight, delays caused us to leave after 11:20am. Which made us miss our connection which was pushed back to 2pm. When we arrived in philly we had plenty of time to eat but received even more time to sit around as that flight was delayed as well. we finally arrived at our destination after 6pm instead of 1pm as planned. we got our rental, a Magnum (awesome) that smelled like cigarettes (horrible) and headed to the in-laws. Instead of an entire afternoon we got a quick evening...

fastforward to this morning, we are getting ready for the wedding. we have visited all that we needed to, and are very ready to get going to the wedding AND party!!!!

til next time

And we are back...

Had a rough weekend. I have found a new club. They are wargamers, something I have been into since High School but have not had a chance to do in over a decade. Now I do and am having a blast. The wife is upset about the amount of time I am spending there. There is a happy medium but we had a trial getting to it. Made for a terrible Sunday of arguing, cold shoulders, slamming doors and silence. I think we have an agreement and all is getting back to well here. I love my wife, she is my best friend but I also need an outlet for myself. In 15 years I have never done anything like this, I do not have a poker night or a golf day, a softball team, or Sunday with the boys watching football all day. I have been the proper family man, always putting the family first and now with the boy at that age where he wants a day to HIMSELF, I take mine. All will be well, eventually, this is something new to everyone. You certainly put your life on hold when you have children and it is a little difficult getting out of first gear when you have been in it for so long....

Telephone Song...

Cleaned the garage this weekend. We have tons of crap that needs to be out of there STAT!!!! There is a Goodwill store opening down the street and I think if we just load up the car once in a while we can get that garage empty. We have thought about having a garage sale but it seems too much for too little. We had one in NY years ago and made some money and then the stuff we did not sell ended up coming to Indy with us. I think if we take the books and movies to half-price books we can at least get a few buck for those. But the clothes and toys and odds and ends can go right to goodwill...

The house has been pretty clean, we have been maintaining which is a good thing. We get it spic and span and then try to make sure we pick up after EVERYTHING. Sounds simple but yet, in the end, it turns into a mess that needs an afternoon to fix (if we are lucky).

As I am a firm believer in the jinx, the supernatural, AND Bigfoot; I will not mention how the boy is doing in school. But I am very happy...

The Big Wrap Up...

Another whirlwind weekend. It started on Saturday at 5am when the alarm went off and I was off to work. Working OT for a parade we televised. Then to the game club for a few rounds of a new game I want to teach the boy. After that it was home to cleaning and relaxing as I was tired from the 10 hour day.

Sunday morning opened fine enough with me up early and everyone else sleeping. I got a call later from my father, my mother could not go to the Colt's game so he was seeing if I wanted to go. Since there is no monday night game in Indy this year, my father and I will not have our annual Colts game. So I said yes and moved the whole day's schedule up. Two hours to mow and weed the yard and then laundry and a shower and it was off to the Dome. Colts win and continue their unbeaten streak. Out to dinner after the game and then home to the family for a quick watch of the Simpsons, Family Guy and then off to bed...

How was your weekend?

Messy Marvin...

Holy cow my office is a total mess!!! I mean really I am embarrassed just walking into it. I need to take some time this weekend and just clean it top to bottom!!! I cannot find anything in it and just getting out of my chair caused a chain reaction that left every square inch of the floor covered....

Funny story the other day. I woke the boy at 6:30am for school and as he followed me out of his room and into the bathroom I went back to bed, I heard him turn on the shower and then the wife jumped out of bed yelling get Nate he is late, you have to drive him. I was like what the hell I just woke him up but as I looked at the clock I saw it was 7:10 and the shower was still on! I jumped out of bed and ran to open the door but it was locked. Scared to death and hearing the water running I pounded on the door and pushed the door in. Instead of finding him slipped and fallen in the shower I find him sitting on the throne still in his sweats sleeping. He jumped up like he was bit not knowing where he was. He showered and I drove him to school. We are laughing about it now but it took about 2 hours for my heart to calm down!!

These Dreams...

Been having weird dreams lately. One was about a rift between the wife and I. No one would let me see here when I came home from work one night. It was very strange and frustrating. Then last night I had a dream I went to pick up the boy somewhere and fell asleep at that place and woke up the next day. Not knowing where he was or were my car went. Very strange...

Baseball is over, let the playoffs begin!!! At mid season and back by 14.5 games I was ribbed constantly about my Yankees. Now they are in and their teams are not. Sweet justice!!!! Fingers crossed and all the ducks in a row for Thursday night vs Cleveland, we will need it!
